Electricity and gas prices

We are told our price increases for Electric and Gas are because of increases by Russia. If we only buy less than 3%  from this source why such big increases.

The prices rose significantly in the last quarter of last year due to a large increase in demand around the globe. The cap prices from April the 1st are due to that, the current unrest in the Ukraine/Russia have caused the wholesale price to jump again but we won't feel the affect of that until October.

Prices are set on the global market, just because we use very little gas from Russia doesn't mean we are isolated from the price instabilities.

What do you think will happen to the price of the 97% we buy from elsewhere when the rest of Europe tries to source its gas from somewhere other than Russia?
