PCN and BW legal re drop off fine

Hi all,

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide me. I dropped someone off at Gatwick Airport and forgot to pay the drop off charge. I was sent through a reminder to my old address (I have moved from where I was initially living when I bought my car). However, I was not passed on my mail until the PCN was escalated and is now with BW legal. I am a bit peeved as if I had known I had forgotten I would have paid straight away but now it's gone for a £5 to a £160 charge and I wondering what I can do.

I have contacted BW legal and the guy wasn't helpful at all when I explained what had happened.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome!

    Don't phone BW Legal.

Which PPC?  (All forum acronyms are in the NEWBIES thread, 5th post if you need them clarified).

Read the NEWBIES thread second post and you are at Letter of Claim/SAR stage.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Hi, I have a similar question / scenario for a Parking Charge Notice at Gatwick.

The first and only letter I've received (as only just updated my V5C) is a BW Legal letter asking for £170.

      - The PPC for Gatwick is NPC

     - The letter says the next one is a Letter of Claim in a couple of weeks' time

      - I believe I need to send an email to their Data Officer informing them of my updated address?
What else should I write? To NPC - nothing to BW Legal?

Ideally I would be able to pay the amount in the original letter (which I haven't seen) rather than go to court. Is this likely?
    I also found parkingfine-appeals.co.uk/company-list suggests

What do you advise as next steps please?
    Thanks

It's NCP - National Car Parks Limited.

That's quite important because if anyone were to tell you to search the forum using the airport name and the car park operator you won't find many results*.

Equally, if anyone comes along later looking for NCP posts, they won't find yours.   ;)

*except that google is quite bright. When I just searched for gatwick npc google said...

Please read the sticky thread for NEWBIES that will answer many of your questions before you even need to ask them, then start your own thread where you will get bespoke help.

The information on the parkingfine-appeals.co.uk website is seriously out of date.

Yes.  Absolutely vital to use the phrase 'you must erase my old address from your databases and that of your agents/clients'.
What else should I write? To NCP - nothing to BW Legal?
Obviously that must go to both, and don't email the DPO at NPC (a completely different parking firm) in error.

Ideally I would be able to pay the amount in the original letter (which I haven't seen) rather than go to court.
No you wouldn't. IMHO it's a scam site.

     Is this likely?
No, but you might get a claim  No biggie, easy to defend.
