I was thinking of purchasing one myself, but am now having second thoughts!

There are far bigger things to worry about in life at the moment than concerning oneself that a third-party can monitor home electricity usage. I don’t need to hack into a smart meter or smart plug to see that three of my neighbours have been away from home for over a week when a simple walk down the street reveals what any thief would want to know. For example, blinds and curtains closed during the day; no cars on the drive etc.

Where did I say I was worried?

Wow! I only went to make a drink and so many replies - thanks everyone.

@Shedman, I've got loads a Tapo smartplugs, but I didn't even know that this device existed!

So if a went to the trouble of using that, plus reviewing my bulbs, etc.., is there a spreadsheet that will calculate what my annual running / standby costs are per device?
It is specifically the P110 (or Kasa KP115 which is what I've got and is which is probably the better plug as the Kasa range seem to get better reviews for longevity etc but as you already have Tapo plugs and presumably the App its probably better to stick to that range) that has the energy monitoring so it wouldn't be available if yours are only P100s (the cheaper version).  Both the Tapo and Kasa plugs work with the Watt app I mentioned which is certainly worth a look if you've got ipad or iphone.

Be warned though...monitoring the consumption of different devices gets addictive 😅

I have both the KP115 and a few other 'Tuya' compatible devices with energy monitoring and although the KP115 may be better made, the software is quite poor when it comes to monitoring use over time.
For anyone buying new, do keep in mind that not all smart plugs provide energy monitoring and their power ratings can be quite different, so don't assume they are all safe to use on a 3kW electric radiator for example...
