UW double electricity standing charge
Utility Warehouse have almost doubled the daily standing charge for electricity while increading the untit charge by 25%.
The gas standing charge is hardly changed while the unit price is increasing by around 80%.
I wonder if other energy suppliers are doing this, and how UW can justify this hike in electricity standing charge at this time.
I can cut down on my energy usage, but I can't avoid the daily standing charge increase.

We all use electricity but not everybody uses gas. Ofgem uses the standing charge to recover money from consumers for such things as Net Zero; smart meters; WHD and the costs incurred when suppliers fail. All suppliers will be increasing their daily standing charge for most tariffs that they offer.carodk53 said:how UW can justify this hike in electricity standing charge at this time.0 -
Yes - this is not "UW" making this increase as such - it's effectively Ofgem. And yes, all suppliers will be doing EXACTLY the same thing. There are lots of other threads on the boards on a similar subject where explanations are given as to what the S/C covers, and why this time round sees such a steep increase.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
