Tide marks/ damp

Hi,
we completed on our house purchase on Friday, I noticed in the corner of the hall way that the paint was darker at the bottom, didn’t think anything of it at the time but the “tide marks” have got higher?
we are rather annoyed as the one thing we didn’t want was damp!
we had a survey done,he didn’t pick up any dampness!
what could be causing it,
no drains near it,
no guttering near it,
Some mortar is missing but not a lot.
many thanks

Did you have a survey done or a valuation report? A survey should have picked up if any damp was present. If you had a full survey done, and it turns out the house has damp, you may have some come back against the surveyor.
Has the house been empty a long time?0 -
Missing mortar won't help. Sort that out first.

Are you able to post pictures yet?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Check the ground levels on the outside. Ideally, it wants to be ~150mm below the DPC. 75mm plus a french drain is a reasonable compromise if the 150mm can't be achieved.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Yes we had a full survey done, survey didn’t pick on any damp,
there is a concrete path next to the house to my knowledge has been there since the house was built, the house has continuously been lived in,although we haven’t yet,
I will take some pictures when I go back.
thank you0 -
If the tide mark has really risen since Friday then you’re looking at something more acute than historic damp.Leaking pipe?0
