Hard credit search Without permission

Hi,
I'm currently going through with a Remortgage and I've just noticed Mercedes have carried out a Hard search on my credit file without consent.
Last month I put down a refundable deposit on a car at a Mercedes Main dealer and no way was I told a credit search will be undertaken.
What do you think I should do?

Was finance going to be provided, if so a hard search would be the norm. You might not have been verbally told a search would be done but was it in the t&c's?1

I only put a refundable deposit down to be on a waiting list for a new popular car , no prices were discussed or any finance details because the pricing for the car i'm interested in wasn't known and isn't currently available to order.Save Save Save:o

Then request Mercedes remove the hard search.
I can see them doing an AML search but that isn't a hard search1
