Hard credit search Without permission

Hi, 

I'm currently going through with a Remortgage and I've just noticed Mercedes have carried out a Hard search on my credit file without consent. 

Last month I put down a refundable deposit on a car at a Mercedes Main dealer  and no way was I told a credit search will be undertaken. 

What do you think I should do?

Was finance going to be provided, if so a hard search would be the norm. You might not have been verbally told a search would be done but was it in the t&c's?

Read the t&cs of the contract. You'll have agreed to it in there.

I only put a refundable deposit down to be on a waiting list for a new popular car , no prices were discussed or any finance details because the pricing for the car i'm interested in wasn't known and isn't currently available to order.

Then request Mercedes remove the hard search.

I can see them doing an AML search but that isn't a hard search
