Smart meter shows drastic DROP in electricity usage

We recently had a smart meter fitted with Octopus Energy which shows a huge drop on our electricity usage. We have not changedniur habits at all as we need to cook, have lights on etc and wantednto see what we have been using.  I have lo gbsuspected that something may have been amiss as our bills have always seemed very high: almost double the average usage for a 4 bedroomed house bit we could not understand why.  We will continue to monitor it but is it too late to query anything now?

Are you absolutely sure you have been reading both meters correctly (decimals should always be ignored). Old electro-mechanical meters are far more likely to read low than high.

I have gone by the bills I have been sent with the readings. They were digital readings so I can't see hiw they can be misread.

The new meters would have read 00000 when installed. Can you read them now please  - as above ignore figures after the decimal point (which can be very difficult to see.

Is your meter one with a small key pad

Is your supplier actually using the meter readings or estimating them ?

What letters are next to the readings on the bill? A, E, C etc?

Did you submit your own readings, with the old meter, or were they just read occasionally by a meter reader?

I have recently been sending monthly readings. They took a final reading which is the same number of digits etc.  I used 107kwh of electricity in 7 days. The average usage is  This contrasts to 78kwh per week now. I am just wondering how it can be so different.

Smart meters don't get adopted onto the system immediately. Have the smart meter reading on the bill got an E next to them?

You are  looking at a very small difference of an average of 4 KWh a day -  a long shower ?

107 KWh is not double the average
