    Not paying £1 "on principle" isnt very sensible. If you ARE NOT struggling, I suggest you pay this and clear the whole balance and close the account asap, expensive and not nice to deal with. If you ARE struggling you could ask them for a payment arrangement and to freeze charges, consider an affordability complaint (and also against any loan you have from them), or go over to the Debt Free Wannabee board https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/debt-free-wannabe) if you have other problem debts as well.
