leaking tap

When in use, the kitchen tap leaks slightly through the collar on the stem (just above the taps themselves).  I'm guessing a washer in the stem needs replacing.  I'm struggling to unscrew the collar however (and there is no grub screw at the back).  Tips would be appreciated for trying to unscrew the collar.  Alternatively, does it sound like I need a new tap unit altogether?

I had the exact same thing & similar taps. Couldn't get at it myself and I got a handyman to fix and he replaced the tap.

Have you tried using a tea towel or similar to help grip it?  Are you turning it in the right direction to unscrew?
  • Hi,
you need something like this to get a good grip on the collar, though protect the collar first to avoid scratches.

  • Have tried with the tea towel and have assumed a right-hand thread (but with no success).  Thanks for the tip around the primitive dentistry equipment above!

It’s for gripping small furry animals.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • Try turning the spout to approximately the 10 o'clock position. Then pull upwards, move it incrementally until you hit the right spot and it should just lift off vertically, no mole grips required.

Don't waste your time trying to repair it, replace it. Are you near a toolstation? .£30 if they have one. If not them google Deva Puffin (12 year guarantee I think) and see what's on line
