Tudor wood cladding

Hi
Our house got external timber (tudor style) which we sand and paint on regular basis.
But those on the side facing south gets paint peeling and wood rotten very fast and becomes unsightly in just one year.
I was wondering if there is some UPVC cladding I could use to cover them which would last 15 years or so instead of having to get people paint them every 2 years which is proving to be expensive and cumbersome.
They are deep rosewood colour.
Any ideas?
Thanks

uPVC can look tired and messy after a few years. It also turn brittle and is easily damaged.
One suggestion is HardiePlank - A cement based fibre board available in a range of colours & textures. Don't know how it compares in cost against uPVC (I suspect a bit more), but it should certainly last longer.

When you replace the existing cladding, it would pay to add some insulation to the walls - Even 25mm will help to keep the place warmer even if it doesn't meet the requirements of Building Regs.

Any chance of a photo, 60? What do you mean by 'Tudor external timber'? Will it look ok with cladding?!
Using the right products, you can stop timber rot, and then repaint it using a coating that should last at least 5 years, probably more, and then should only require a re-coat and not extensive work.

  • Wouldn't trying to replace that with any form of cladding just look not very good?

3 options ( no 4 options, 1st is ignore opinions from those that do not know the other 3)

    2) Yes there is a specific polypropylene replacement that can be added. Only issue is the exact width of the existing timber and will is match exactly. They have Rose/mahogany colours. 1" thick, colour throu, 25 yrs warranty
    3) Any board that is put up there may effect the current white bits that may have to be repaired or adjusted to suit.
    4) There are various limestone based renders that can be created as timber effect. Not a worry for weather.

    Happy to help.
