Purecard Debit card Hidden charges

I have received a Purecard debit card as part of a broadband offer. I have managed to use it and there is now £5 left on the card. I have read from comments online that Purecard charge you if you leave any money on the card or if you don't use often enough. I've also heard it costs £2 to cancel it. I have no intentions of using this card in the future. I just want to get rid of it, frankly. If I empty the card so it's a zero balance can I simply forget about it without the danger of future "charges", or should I cancel it at the cost of £2? As with most customers who receive these so called "reward" cards, I don't want it and have no intention of using it in the future, but am concerned about the hidden costs in T&Cs.

The costs aren't hidden if they're in the t&cs. Check them to see what happens to a card with a zero balance.1

spend £3 which leaves £2 to pay to cancel it1

Just spend the £5 on a existing utility account or top up Amazon.
The fees are mostly there to eat up small balances and allow closure.
