Car Insurance abroad

Hello All
As always, I purchased an excess insurance for my Car Hire in Spain this week. It was with Eversure for 4 days. Goldcar say they don’t recognise this insurance and I won’t be covered if anything happens. I know some car companies push their own cover, but Ive never been told it’s not valid and won’t cover me. I have the usual £1000 hold on my card (fine) but is the policy void? I’ve not heard anything. Any advice is appreciated from you all. Thanks.

Goldcar are best avoided. They are well known for high pressure sales and questionable tactics regarding supposed damage and repair costs.
What they "recognise" or not is of no importance, either you are insured or not, and that is between you and you insurer.

You have insured the payment you have to make. In other words you have to pay the rental and the insurer re-imburses you. There is no agreement between your insurer and the renter.1

Goldcar has a well deserved, and long standing, reputation for being probably the worst company out there. Not only the issue the OP has experienced, but also finding either non-existent problems with the vehicle on return, or blaming the lastest renter for long standing damage.

The cover is irrelevant to them... you just decline their excess insurance, I you have an accident then you pay the excess and recover it from your insurance. They need never know you had the cover.2
