It's very hit and miss unless you get genuine 3M ones.
Even then you need to make sure you fit them properly.
It's a bit of a nightmare with the restrictions ending and free testing ending. I'm looking at higher end masks too but it's hard to get really good ones.1 -
It really isn't worth bothering if you have been vaccinated and if you have not then the only viable solution is to get vaccinated, Covid will be around until the end of humanity, you cannot hide forever.
You can buy them from Amazon, JSP and 3M are your best bets, as long as you buy from Amazon and not a third party seller. However as others have said you need to make sure they fit properly, an FFP3 mask which us not properly fitted offers less filtration than a well fitted surgical mask. Most FFP3 masks have a limited lifespan, as low as single use and/or 8 hours in some cases, if you were following standard medical protocol every mask would be binned after one use.2 -
I am vaccinated, I know how to fit a mask properly. I am going to a large event and I just wanted some added protection.1

The genuine 3M ones are good.
UV sterilisation is a good idea too.0 -
I got some 3M ones from Screwfix recently. I couldn’t believe the price but the only shared indoor spaces I am in is hospital appointments so they’ll last for a good while.2

I bought FFP3s from ukmeds.co.uk. Cost a fortune but I feel a bit safer in shops and hospital.1

On the same website you'll find the box of 20 3M FFP3 at almost £100. That's the version for healthcare settings, splash resistant, which maybe you don't need.
Personally I go for FFP2 masks, still 3M, from Medisave.
I've tried other brands, but found that only 3M masks have the best fit.3 -
Many thanks!0
