New Energy Rates not as OFGEM chart
On an earlier post I was made aware of a chart for energy prices from April 1 by OFGEM. Assuming Romford, Essex is either London or Eastern. The price of electric said the cap would be 32.1 SC and 29.63 unit or 37.9 (SC) and 29.24 unit. Those rates are with DD. I have my new quote from EON stating my new rate will be 43.335 (SC) and 30.799.
Unfortunately I wasn't on DD before and I have not been given the opportunity to have one now to take advantage of a cheaper rate.
Apart from fixed tariff which obliges me to have a smart meter is there anything else I can do.

How have you not been given the opportunity to set up a direct debit? Have they refused you, or have you not asked? All you have to do is ring your energy company or if you have an online account set it up on there.0

Do remember that fixed rates are excluded from the cap and as such you may find it difficult to find a fixed rate that is less than the cap, and may be significantly more.

MWT & CG I rang them and asked about a fix which would be put on DD, but it necessitated me having a smart meter fitted. As it stands I'd rather not have one.
I discussed the new Next Flex tariff which you have confirmed as correct MWT. I asked if those rates could be reduced by going on a DD. I was told that it is not possible to go on DD with that tariff both by the CS agent and by another op that she discussed it with.
