A working odometer is not a requirement and not tested during an MOT. Replacement instrument clusters and even mileage correction are legal too as long as the actual mileage of the vehicle is not misrepresented at the time of sale.

If the equipment is plug in why not unplug it when your not using the car?

Because they will then cancel your policy for unplugging their device.  It must be left in all the time.  You even have to tell them if the unit is going to be unplugged while the car is being serviced.

    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • I’m with bymiles, drive once a week twice at a push.
20 miles max, not drained my battery yet.
Three years with them so far, a quarter of the price of the next insurer.
hmmm .. that's just my situation, but if I ever skip a week the battery is dead .maybe its something else draining it then ?

yes, that's right. My battery died a couple of weeks back, and I have had to get a special agreement from them to keep my insurance going until it's replaced and the tracker starts working again - they were fine about this after some discussion

I would guess that it would be a breech of T/C. As for all they know the car is being driven...

If you're using the car that infrequently, then it might be worth looking at getting a solar trickle charger. It'll keep the battery topped up and counter the drain from the device.
