We are with Sainsbury's Energy who of course have a link up with NPower.
Does anyone know which UK energy suppliers use Russian bought gas.
I appreciate the UK's national gas consumption only uses around 5% of Russian gas, however, I don't want to be a customer of a company trading with them.
I have tried to search online but I simply can't find any information.

Better check every object in your house doesn't have connections with Russia then as we import quite a few things from there.1

No need to, I am enquiring about gas.[Deleted User] said:Better check every object in your house doesn't have connections with Russia then as we import quite a few things from there.1 -
Just saying that gas is not the only thing that ties us to Russia.0

Just to be clear, I am enquiring about gas, nothing else.[Deleted User] said:Just saying that gas is not the only thing that ties us to Russia.

Every gas supplier uses Russian gas because it all gets mixed up in the gas grid. Russian gas comprises about 2% of our total supply. Most imported gas comes from Norway.

Remember that the largest proportion of our electricity is generated from gas.

You have to understand how supply works given its history... generation, distribution and customer sales were broken up during privatisation. The reason you can easily switch providers without someone having to come and dig up your road to lay a new pipe is that whoever you are with its coming from the same distribution and generation.tommyedinburgh said:We are with Sainsbury's Energy who of course have a link up with NPower.

About 5% of UK gas comes from Russia but unless you decide not to have gas then you cannot avoid a share of it. Even if you went electricity only you have gas fired generation there too.0 -
My simplest response is if I had an opportunity to move to a company who do not trade with them I would.
Clearly I don't as the gas is mixed up from multiple locations. That does not stop me contacting my supplier and expressing my discontent that they use Russian gas. If even as low of 10% of gas customers done the same, the suppliers here in the UK might be motivated to focus their gas purchases elsewhere.
I am sure everyone is getting the idea here. I don't want to spend money that ends up in Russia.0 -
