Bed and headboard

Hi,
My mum had ordered a new bed and a cloth headboard on 3rd February, she was told delivery would be around 8 weeks. She has decided that she no longer wants this headboard so rang the store to cancel it. They have told her they can’t cancel it as it’s been ordered from the manufacturer and delivery would be early March. It’s not a specially made headboard it’s a standard one from the store. Can anyone tell me what her rights are regarding this please?

The headboard may well be made to order. Most companies now try to keep stock levels to a minimum, which is why there can be long lead times on delivery. All she can do is check the T&C from when she ordered it to see what they say about cancellation.

How did she order - in a store or online.0

If she ordered in store then she has no statutory right to change her mind, it will depend on the store's policy. If she ordered online, and didn't visit the store to browse or discuss the headboard beforehand, then she can return the headboard within 14 days of receipt.0

As others have said she has no legal entitlement, but the best local shopkeepers know the value of recommendation and good customer service.
If the two of you tell the shop what you have told us here there is a good chance that they will find a way to amend your mum's order.0 -

As she ordered in store, then no rights to cancel, so it would be better to try and negotiate a swap.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
