Hello

Your advise is currently to stay on variable tariff , I'm on oone.

But now that the Ukraine situation has and unfortunately looks to continue escalating.

Is it advantageous to now get on a fixed contract , as gas and probably electricity wil more the increase in October more than the predicted 20% .

Or wil the energy companies change T&C's with a force majeure clause?

No one really knows. It'll be a case of doing what you're comfortable with or what's available from the suppliers, most have withdrawn their fixes in the light of yesterday's invasion.

I wouldn't be surprised if some suppliers have already modified their contracts to allow get out clauses should the price of energy shoot up more than a predetermined amount to protect them from what has happened already.
What happened yesterday has already caused them to remove fixes and to increase prices of fixes currently available.
We could be paying 15p/kWh for gas come October, if we even have gas then.

It could go the same way that broadband etc has gone in that you have a contract price but they are allowed to raise it if needs be. EDF fixes currently listed on their site are estimated £30 more than the SVT. The days of cheap energy deals have gone.
