Question about Bought by Many pet insurance. When can I claim?

I have insured my dog with Bought By Many.

I took out a Value policy which means there's a £3,000 limit on the amount that I can claim in any year.

My question is - does the "£3,000 per year" claims limit apply to treatment date, or to the date at which claims are submitted (which, according to policy documents, can be up to one year after treatment)?

The reason I ask is that my dog had a serious injury.  The cost of x-rays and surgery was just over £3,000.  I claimed £3,000 of these costs.  This means that there's nothing further that I can claim on the policy until it renews later in the year.  I'm continuing to incur costs, though e.g. for follow-up x-rays and medication.  I'll continue to have my dog treated but it'd be good for peace of mind to know if I could claim these costs later on.

The policy document isn't clear:

"We will pay up to £3,000 for all vet’s fees in any one year".

I've asked Bought By Many but they won't tell me unless I give them my policy details.  I don't want to do this as I suspect they'll hike next year's premium if I do.  I don't think I should have to provide these details because I'm asking a general question about their policies, not a specific question about mine.

Thanks in advance.

It will be the date of treatment, not the date of submitting the claim.

If it is a continuous life policy, then they should start covering costs again as incurred at the time (usually upon payment of another excess) ; if not, then any continuation claims relating to this injury will no longer be covered. Only your own policy documents can tell you that.

I know Petplan split any costs which overlap years so any treatment before the policy year end is charged for that year and any costs incurred after the policy year are charged in the new year.

I would expect Bought by Many to operate the same way.

Thanks.  I suspected as much but thought it was worth asking.  It's a continuous life policy so, when the policy renews in August I'll be able to start claiming again.
