Car Service Care Packages

Is there any previous discussion about if it is worth taking out a service care package with a garage when buying a car? I bought a new car in 2016, found I was paying more than I thought I should be in servicing up to 2020, and then took out a service care package with my garage, but the cost is still around the same? Has any analysis been done on the pros and cons of doing this please?

Depends on your point of view. I guess the main consideration is how much a service costs. If you're paying main-dealer prices then it's going to cost a lot more for a service than if you've got a trusted independent mechanic who can do it instead.Remember that you don't have to use a main dealer for servicing. If you use an independent mechanic/garage who is vat-registered, who uses genuine parts and who does the service according to the manufacturer's schedule, then your warranty is still valid. There is of course the argument of good-will - if you always use a main dealer, then a fault develops outside of warranty, the dealer will sometimes make a contribution to the repair as a gesture of good-will. Of course, if warranty is not a factor then I'd always recommend using an independent - as long as you've got a mechanic who you trust to do it properly.1

When I purchased my new Peugeot 5008 in December 2016 I paid £13.42 a month for 5 years. Main dealer service.
£805.20 for 5 years interest free.
Just took out a new plan for 5 years at another Peugeot main dealer for £14.99 a month.
Includes brake fluid and pollen filters every 2 years most don’t include them. £900 = £180 a year.
I would only use quality parts if I got it done local.
Mann filters, Oil is £50, Oil filter £15, pollen filter’s £23, brake fluid £10, sump waster £3 Total before Labour £102.00
£78 for Labour at main dealer is ok.
Main dealer package, through emac.1
