Council Tax Rebate & empty BTL

I I have a BTL property that became empty at the end of January.

Instead of renting it out again , I’m going to sell it so it will be empty for a good few months.

My council allows a discount of 100 percent for one month when it’s empty. After this full council tax will be charged for the whole time it is empty

Does anyone know how I go about claiming the £150 pro rata rebate ?
I don’t wish to set up a direct debit for this or should I ?

Many thanks

Presumably you'd get in touch with the council or wait for them to get in touch with you - the bills for next year will be going out soon and will probably have more information. I've seen someone (on these boards ?) saying that the rebate won;t be paid to empty or second homes, but I;ve not seen anything official to either refute or back this up.....

I believe it will automatically be deducted from your CT bill from April. No need to apply.
Provided your property qualifies of course.
Simply inform the council of the date you became liable for CT (eg 30/1/22) and advise them the property is empty to claim the 1 month discount, and the council will work out the billing for you, including the rebate in April.
