Miscalculated Debt

14 months ago we parted company with Together Energy after being with them for two years after Oneselect went bust in 2018.We were only with Oneselect for our gas supply and were taken on by Together Energy as a single fuel customer.
Two years down the line in Dec 2020 we decided to switch away from Together Energy for a cheaper fixed tarrif with someone else.
On calculating our bill after switching , Together Energy's billing team made an error of date that we were with them from 2017 not 2018.
Even though we pay all our bills by direct debit and countless emails and phone calls including registering complaints we are still getting theatening emails saying we are owning over £800 for a debt we don't have.
We have explained in every phone call to them that we have proof we don't owe anything but they haven't been able to resolve this issue. We have even sent proof of dates and balances that there own customer helpline teams have given us but they always say our account is locked and they are having troubles accessing it.
We have tried Ofgem but they say as Together Energy ceased trading they can't help.
We don't know how we can resolve this matter as talking to them only gets an answer of call back in two weeks , but nothing gets sorted.
Who else do we contact for help?

  • Sorry to hear about your situation. Together Energy have been a nightmare for us, too (see my post elsewhere in this forum).

I'm surprised you haven't received a response on this very helpful forum.

I don't have much advice for you, as we're in in a very similar situation to yours but sharing my experience FWIW.

I wrote to them at their support@ email address and they responded promptly to insist that their bill was correct, so I know that email address gets monitored (though it doesn't look like they actually read anything you send them).

You say you've been talking to them: what number are you calling them on? Their customer service number (0141 846 1520) only plays a recorded announcement that they've ceased trading, so I've been struggling to contact them.

We finally got a response from them which I can only imagine is as a result of my constant phoning .At one point they were blaming their billing team for not being able to calculate our bill for over a year,so I starting asking them if the billing team had a boss ? as I explained that if I kept a customer constantly complaining for that long my boss would sack me.We have now been told the miscalculated amount has been written off,now just waiting for an email or letter to confirm this.
The number We have for them is 0141 380 0768 .
