Standby power consumption

What is the power consumption of a modern LCD TV on standby?
Surely not the estimated £35 per year from BBC

Less than 1 Watt. So if it was on standby, permanently, it would cost less than £3/annum at April cap prices.

That's what I thought (a single LED) Plus a tiny bit for the circuit

    It's not even close.

Sad that I am I measured ours (5 year old lg 42"), standby is 0.1Wh. standby for a year would be 0.876 kWh, less than one unit of electricity.
Not worth the effort of turning it off at the wall

The 1 Watt regulation was part of the red tape "forced" on us by the EU, of course.

I bought a Philips 65" TV in December 2019 and the standby usage is quoted at 0.5W per hour, if I left it in standby for 12 months it would cost me 4.38 kWh or about 88p per year. I only use it for Netflix, PS 4 and the Xbox. It's G rated so a few hours of use per week usage costs me about £2.50 per week on average.
Someone please tell me what money is

With the quotes I'm guessing at sarcasm
  • Since October I've turned my tv and sky box (which for me is a freeview box) at the wall at night for the next 18-20 hour's.. for the last 4 months I've used 35-50kwh's less a month over the the previous 3 year's.

The sky box I have saved 20kwh's a month.
The tv says' 0.3 standby power consumption, but with 15-30kwh's unaccounted for It looks like it uses more than it's states.
Either way I'm saving 45 kWh a month which is £7.50 a month on my current tarriff or £12.50 if I was on April's price cap tarriff... For me a significant saving....also 130kg c02 released bringing down my 👣
