Credit building after DRO using new bank account to pay off credit card

Hi,

My credit score is badly effected after the end of DRO 12 month period and want to improve my score fast.

I have an Aqua card with a £600 limit that was taken out before my DRO but I never activated it. I am now activating it and want to use it to help build my credit score to what it was.

I took out a new Lloyds account (only entitled to a basic account) and wanted to ask if paying off my Aqua card using my new Lloyds account would look good on my report and help make my score go up as I’m making regular payments from Lloyds?

I want to improve my chances of getting approved for future credit with Lloyds and other banks and also help my score by paying Aqua back in time before interest.

Thanks!

  • The first thing is to ignore the score. It's not linked to your credit worthiness, not seen by anyone and won't do what you think it will. As you start building your history, the score will fall, so just stop looking at it.

You can pay your aqua card by any means you want - just make sure you clear it in full each month.
