Radiator advice (any plumbers here?)

Recently had this new radiator dropped to plaster behind it. It was heating up fine before but now it won’t heat up. It looks to me as though it’s missing a valve at the end (maybe the tradesman that dropped it walked away with it in his pocket?!) is it missing a valve and if it is what do I need to buy? Also I’ve tried bleeding it and that hasn’t worked.

Could be one of two things (assuming the radiator has water in it - and isn't fully air locked). The TRV on the left is "stuck" closed and is no longer functioning.Or the lock shield valve is in the closed position (this is the valve you think has a part missing. There's typically a "proud" aspect that sticks up and you can twist it to open / close the radiator but some are low profile and you have a tool to open/close themThe part inside should "turn" (looks a rusty brown in the picture).https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/monza-modern-anthracite-angled-thermostatic-radiator-valves looks like what you have..

Could you take a photo look down inside that valve? And what did it look like before - did it have an anthracite-coloured cover on it?Worst case scenario is that you need a new lockshield valve, and that's around a £ivver. But, you'll likely need a plumber to fit it? That's going to be more...Anyhoo, photo looking down inside, please?2

I was going to suggest it probably will need replacing but i was hoping it was some sort of low profile spindle (and not snapped off)... The top of the valve looks suspiciously "not original".Bendy_House said:Could you take a photo look down inside that valve? Looks like it might adjust with a large hex key. To take the radiator off it would need to be closed, which is a decent indication it was working - so hopefully it is just a matter of opening it, bleeding the radiator again, and only the cosmetic cover has gone missing.

Have you spoken to the guy who did the work "Hi, its mJenJam111 here. My radiator isn't heating up since you moved it" (subtext " you've knackered it - get over here & fix it")1

It doesn't look as though the caps are sold separately unfortunately. A bit of skip-diving might find the original . .1

My first port of call would be to the tradesman that removed and refitted the radiator. Get him to come back and get it working again for you.
Do you know the make/model of radiator or where was it purchased?1 -
These look like the type of valves that have been used - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anthracite-Angled-Designer-Thermostatic-Radiator/dp/B09LTJ6KD8/ref=sr_1_61

It just looks like the lock-shield valve on the RHS of the rad needs opening up with a hex key (Allen key) 8mm from memory - not sure what type of person refits it and doesn't check it's working.
The cover cap is missing but won't affect it's performance.
If the lock-shield is fully open you could try turning off all the other radiator TRVs leaving this rad open and it might force the water to it if there is a slight air lock.Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.1 -
I agree: Call back the tradesman who removed and refitted the radiator to cure this for you? (They should have tested it after they finished.
It does look like a hex adjuster for the lock shield valve is down a long way and may well be shut off. Allen key of the right size could be used to open it a bit (more). The plastic cover may be cosmetic or push into that hex and be able to operate the valve. Have a good search around for somewhere it may have been placed 'safely'?
https://www.screwfix.com/p/cassellie-rva014-anthracite-angled-trv-lockshield-15mm-x/642gx also looks very similar. Spare parts are sometimes available from the manufacturer or distributor, although not always.
