We've booked directly with TUI Airlines now on a direct flight to Cancun and my daughter will get the bus and ferry over to Coz. So, we're all sorted and I think everyone for all their help including yourself.
Handy sort of missus to have Sandtree!!
How did you find Cozumel? Daughter will be there for about 8 weeks training to become a PADI Divemaster.
Do you have good local information? I have heard disturbing accounts of armed robberies on passenger buses, so I hope that you are confident that this is a good idea.

We like it, the beaches there don't suffer from the seaweed issue that the mainland does, but just like Playa, its not very Mexican0 -

Anyone can be unlucky, and my party days are behind me, but the only thing I wouldn't do is get involve in drugs (and there are people trying to sell them fairly openly). Much of the violence is around the supply and so mixing in just increases your risk. A couple of weeks ago in Tulum our taxi got stuck in traffic with the chatter on the CB radio thing being it was a drug deal gone bad that had closed the road after a shooting.
Adding up all the trips and holidays etc we've probably spent 5 years in Mexico and never had a problem or witnessed any violence. By the flip side have been in US probably for about 6 months and have been held up at gun point twice in NYC0
