Pouring with rain here and set in for the day, meant to get sleet later too will get the dogs out this morning before it turns really bad. Camelot go careful driving in snow is no fun.
I feel a bit better today have not had V or D since yesterday afternoon so I will try some toast after this, ive stayed off today as I feel very weak and lethargic. Will take it easy today and have a duvet day once the dogs have been out.
Burittos for dinner tonight not sure I fancy them but OH and dd will love them, I will see how I feel later.
Morning all Rainy and horrible this morning but i am home as lots of deliveries doubt the renderer will finish as hoped but in better news i have a date for the roof windows 1st March so fingers crossed it will be done before we go away. Not great news to wake up to this morning I had hoped things would calm down in Ukraine but it seems we have gone past that point such a worry and i feel for the general population caught up in the middle of all this DH hates TK he always calls it a jumble sale with price tags whereas i quite like it Gers I get your worries about what to do with your inheritance its quite a heavy burden we have chosen to do the house up and pay for a once in a lifetime holiday to Antarctica and i am sure mum would approve as she loved to travel and broaden her mind even at 85 when she went to Jamaica so we are doing the same as you x Scarlet Happy Birthday have a great day x Nanny I hope you are enjoying your break Right better get on and make room for the deliveries . Have a good day stay safe warm and dry xxx
TA - great news about Sparkle, well done that cat.
Good news Ruby - hope that your recovery continues.
And more good news on your windows Bella.
Spending an inheritance on weddings, building works and travel seems to be a good way of doing things. My late DM left me a postcard, written a number of years ago when she first took so ill, saying 'enjoy the material things I leave you' so I will push the guilty feelings away and 'enjoy' it.
I've been out to fill the feeders after all, the rain stopped for a few minutes so I chanced it. Sadly, there was a dead blue tit in one of the feeders - it's round with various holes in - it was stuck in the hole I couldn't even get it out as the wee body was frozen.
The hard frost / snow is now melting, the worry now is that ice will form. The Rest and Be Thankful was blocked this morning by about 10 lorries which couldn't climb up the snowy and icy hill, it looked awful. It's all clear now thank goodness. All these lorry drivers do a magnificent job in awful conditions.
Morning all. Happy Birthday Scarlet, enjoy your day.
Last night we had yet more rain and today's forecast isn't great either. It's currently wet outside with a grey sky that looks as if it's going to dump yet more rain or possibly snow on us. Chilly too. I'm glad I don't have to go out anywhere today.
Yesterday I went to the pharmacy to pick up DH's meds; mine aren't due for another week but they were ready too, so that saves me a trip out next week.
Then I walked on to Sainsbugs for a few bits and pieces where I spent just under £27. That included a piece of silverside beef for the weekend, F&V, milk and a couple of clearance items for the pantry. Remember my rant yesterday about the price N*sa were charging for dried peas? Well, Sainsbugs had them on clearance for 42p a box so two jumped into my basket. No doubt the fact they were being sold off cheaper means they're being discontinued. I noticed more items have increased in price - 15p on a tablet of jelly, 5p on 2 pts of milk, 10p on a 250g block of beef dripping and so on. The grocery budget will definitely be getting squeezed even tighter than it already is.
This month's gas/electricity bill has arrived, not as bad as I expected but it has eaten into my credit balance a bit.
The WM is chugging away with a dark wash and it will have to go on the airer rather than outside. Other jobs to do today are mopping the floors in the kitchen, hallway and bathroom.
TA, I'm glad Sparkle was on good behaviour for the vet yesterday but Ouch to that bill. She's obviously a much loved kitty.
Must get a wriggle on, cup of tea has gone cold and could do with a refill, Stay warm and dry if you can, better weather must be on the way, surely? Please. X
Happy Birthday Scarlet, have a lovely day & anyone else with a birthday x
DH was pleased with his presents yesterday. I made a cake and as it came out of the oven DS2 arrived and suggested we all went out for tea later to a place just down the road from him! They finished what they had to do at work then he picked DGD up from school and we got DGS, called back at home for DS1 and off we went.We all enjoyed it and the children kept us entertained. It was pretty quiet, just as well as DGS got a bit giddy but he was wedged in a corner so couldn't get up to much. It was lovely to all go out together, and made me realise I couldn't remember the last time we all went.
I had a new slow cooker delivered yesterday to replace the one DS2 took with him. I got 1 from AmMarketplace, usually let lucky with stuff from that section but it didn't have a lid in the box so I sent it back and ordered the same one from th'ebay as it was cheaper. It's a bit smaller than DS2s, prob better now we are a smaller household, looking forward to doing a beef joint at the weekend in it.
TA- ouch at the vets
Dp1 glad your cat came back!
Taff, hope your tests are ok x
Gers, sounds like you will get the right balance with the inheritance.
Right must carry on, DGS to pick up later. Have good days all x

Good morning everyone Very worrying news from Ukraine this morning - just hoping it calms down quickly but it seems unlikely. Scarlet - enjoy your birthday I went out early - to collect a parcel from Argos and post one at the post office at Asda. Also popped into Poundland where I got a loaf for 25p with today's date on it. Shattered after I'd walked - about 25 minutes so got the bus back home. Wanted to go early as we're forecast gales and heavy snow - at the minute it's lovely blue skies and sunshine, very cold though. TA - ouch at the vets bill - Sparkle is very lucky to have you. I spoke to my boss yesterday - next week I'm going to work half days and see how I get on - I think I'll be shattered, but feel I need to try. My second job - which follows straight on from first - is going to have to wait for now. I know I haven't got the energy to do both. I'm very lucky to work where I do. Well I have a few jobs to do so am going to get on. Hope everyone has a good day. Take care x
Morning all. Sorry for the sobby post yesterday, just feeling a bit down I expect. To stave that off and do something positive, I booked to go and see Dyan Moran and Reginald D Hunter. Today I have a lot of cleaning planned. When we went out yesterday I didn't realise the little cat was shut in the downstairs loo so that's got to be cleaned. Anyone who thinks their cats paws are not dirty should put them in a sink with a little bit of water and see how many paw prints they can find...In the sink, on the windowsill, on the toilet...Poor thing. Plus the floors need doing and the bathroom upstairs. The fire is already lit because it's quite chilly although I don't doubt cleaning will warm me up.
Yes,very sobering news about Russia,I just despiar of some sections of humanity, money and power are all some people understand. I don't know why, you can't take it with you and no one lives forever. Which brings me to Gers and those with inheritances. You all seem to be doing something that will make your lives better with it so have at it. A friends wife gambled every single penny of hers away when she could have made her and her familiy's lives so much better. You're not in that camp so rejoice.
Ruby, if you work with vulnerable people don't you have to have 3 days clear of d&v? Just saying in case you need more of a rest.. Izzy, you're going to meet yoursefl coming backwards one of these days, you're so busy! I'd wave a magic wand for you if I could. Camelot, go careful..For me though, I love driving in the snow but it does help to have a 4x4..[when I eventually have it back that is] TA,lovely to see you've found a better location and another good vet. And don't mind me, I was just having one fo those days...and so to Scarlet, have a fabulous day, drink wine, eat cake or whatever you like really. Take care of yourselves today, it's not looking good out there...
Morning all. Sorry for the sobby post yesterday, just feeling a bit down I expect.
No need to apologise TAFF - we all have those sort of days, hope that today is a better one for you.
I ventured out into town, I was a bit hesitant about the weather but I pulled on my old coat and big girl knickers. I need my meds and I also bought some peanuts for the birds. The country store is having difficulty getting stocks of medium sized bags, the huge bags are too much so I went to the hardware shop which sells small bags. I've also managed to free the dead bird, washed the feeder and filled it again.
The sky is so dark here, I hope that it's clearer elsewhere.
Happy Birthday Scarlet. Wet day here and we had some thunder and hail stones. New knitting pattern arrived in the post so I have my needles and yarn on the go. Mr F has a bad leg - very swollen and red - think he needs antibiotics. Friend dropped off some stuff for the SA fair on Saturday - have had a cancellation for a table so hope someone else will take it.
