Credit card balance increase

Hi all!

I received a letter from MBNA offering an increase in my available credit this morning. They said that I didn’t need to do anything and that it would just be applied.

I’m currently applying for a mortgage, so was just wondering: would this go down as a hard credit search? If so, I’ll most likely ask them to leave the credit limit as it currently is!

Many thanks!

As its them offering it normally its done on internal data only and not a hard search however the mortgage lender will see the increased limit at the next monthly CRA update
  • No credit search. Higher limit won't be a worry to mortgage lender if not in use. Higher limit won't be visible on your credit file for four to eight weeks after MBNA apply it anyway. It's a positive, let it happen.
