With the Covid rules being updated/relaxed I started to think about a trip abroad again. I looked at 1 travel firm, which I hadn't tried before,  and asked about the requirements for a group holiday for solos. They were as follows:   1. Be triple vaccinated (no problem), 2. Provide a negative Covid test result before travelling (OK but when I had  mild Covid symptoms , it took 5-6 days to get a positive test) 3. Sign a statement to say that I haven't been in contact with anyone who has tested positive in the past 2 weeks
I wonder whether firms will have to drop the 3rd one very soon given that tests won't be free?  How many people, who wake up on the day of departure with mild cold symptoms, will cancel their trip just in case it might be Covid.

were you asking the question about travel to a specific country or a generic enquiry?
some countries require 2, others do not
some countries have a requirement for 3, others do not

You can only sign to say you haven’t knowingly been in contact with anyone,
plenty of us have tests left, others will be ordering them before end of March otherwise they’ll be £1.99 at Superdrug.

I would suggest getting insured - perhaps ask the travel agent whether they have a policy that covers all the scenarios.
also might be a good idea to not do loads of mixing and wear masks etc. before your holiday.
If I had an expensive holiday booked I’d avoid everything I could for a few days and wear at least an FFP2 the other times. not a lot to ask for a few days if you want to go on hols.

The “free” NHS tests have never been accepted for international travel .

Point 3 is a requirement for entry of many countries at time of writing and included in their Health declaration/ Forms prior to entry.

Depending  on your destination and the date you will be travelling there may be more or less requirements.

If it is a coach trip or cruise there may be additional requirements of that provider .

And some hotels may have their own requirements too .

Yes I would always have travel insurance but, if I wake up with cold symptoms on the day of departure so can't go in case it might be Covid, I doubt the insurer would pay out if it turned out to be a false alarm.

The currently free tests aren't valid for travel.

I doubt many people would cancel if they woke up with cold symptoms and did a negative LFT. Of course there is the risk it might be covid, but equally it may not. If there are no other testing requirements in the first few days of your holiday, I doubt people would cancel or test further.

Maybe not but if I go on a group holiday with other solo participants, the other people might not be happy if I were sneezing or coughing halfway through the trip. I didn't get a positive LFT until 5/6 days after my cold started.

Sort of like the potential drama for anybody about to join a cruise ship not so long ago - where they asked you if you've had health symptoms associated with Norovirus.
If you respond Yes - end of your cruise presumably ?

I did have one of those during a trip once but only needed to stay away from the rest of the group for 24-48 hours. No way could I have known before departure that I was going to get it.
  • Which countries can you travel to without any restrictions for those who refused the injections?

You would need to check the individual countries before committing to travel, but this slightly out of date article suggests there are a few- you do have to jump through some hoops, paid for tests etc, which vaccinated tourists do not.
