eBay Buyer wants to pay cash on collection

Listed an ebay item as collection only, buyer wants to pay cash on collection.  I have no problem with that, but unsure what the best way to proceed is now all the payment stuff changed recently.

He doesn't seem to care about buyer protection, and will get the opportunity to have a good look over before purchase, so any way to minimize my fees would be best :-)

If the sale has taken place via ebay you will not be minimizing your fees if he pays cash.   Ebay will still take the same percentage.  Unless someone knows otherwise?

So I just "Mark As Paid" in the app?, and eBay just charge me the seller fees? No problem with that, just needed clarity on the process.

Bonus question; what is this Scan to confirm collection? Is this some additional process???

You will get a QR code to confirm that item was collected, but as it’s cash you don’t need proof to protect yourself against a chargeback anyway.

The information on proving collection with the code is here https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/posting-items/setting-postage-options/local-pickup?id=4181

But as Soolin says there is less to worry about when it is cash.

    What's your actual question?

There is a process in eBay where you scan a code on his phone to confirm he has collected the items from you so just make sure you do that. Outside of that its just a traditional way of doing things that I've done without issues many times.

How much is the item? The only issue I ever had was selling an item for around £1,000 and the guy paid with a fist full of £50 notes which obviously made it slightly higher risk if any turned out to be fake and a little harder to spend but all went in the bank without problems... would probably ask not to use £50s were I selling another item of similar value.

I agree with Sandtree about no £50 notes as you won't be able to verify their authenticity.

I paid cash for a car and used £20 notes for this very reason!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
