Heads up, compers! In order to investigate a technical issue, we've had to move some of the older threads from Game Over into a new category called 'Game Over Archives'. It'll be comps from before 2017, so shouldn't have too much impact on your day-to-day Forum experience. Thanks for your patience!

I won ( I think, but need some help) Edit - (Yes it's a fab win :) ) Thank you

Hi, so I got an email earlier saying Congratulations on winning the recent Period Living competition to win a Contura woodburning stove!
Now I have searched like mad and the only one I can find is this one
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6293221/e-11-10-win-a-contura-wood-burning-stove
October ending, but.... that say's it is valued upto £1995
The email I got with an attachment with a letter for me to claim my prize from a stockist says it's for upto £1895, (don't get me wrong I am not being ungrateful at all, but £100 difference??) Unless there is another one listed that I just can't find.
So my question is if it is that one, should I question the £100 difference (email was from a third party) and is it normal for me to get an attachment to contact a company that stocks them to order it and for that company to accept this attachment as proof and then have to contact them themselves with my order to claim back? it just seems a little strange. ( I am very tired and stressed at the moment so might just be reading too much into this and it's all legit etc)
Thanks in advance x (and Thank you very much Mouse400 if it was that one x )

I can’t give you any specialised advice.

is there a stove that is £1995 on the stockist website that you would chose over one at £1895 it might be that £1895 is the price now?

if it were me I would first find a stockist and check which stove I wanted to order, and take it from there.
back to comping after a 2 year break!! Mission… to win a gift for all my family for Christmas!

It says they are WORTH up to, not on sale for.
It also says the winner gets to choose but mentions 2 different ones, so maybe you are to choose from those two, which are now selling for £1895.
One lucky winner will be able to choose a stove that adds rustic style and cosiness to their home.
For those with an existing fireplace, the Contura i7 cassette stove can be inserted for a classic look to brighten up any home. Those wanting to add a touch of warmth with a more traditional design can opt for the freestanding Contura i5L – with shorter legs and the largest possible glass surface, offering an optimum view of the flames; perfect for meditative evenings spent curled up in front of the fire.

If you are unsure if you have actually won, it wouldn't hurt to contact them via an official source or check a winners list (if they have one)

Homes and GardensFacebook / Twitter / Instagram

There have also been some more recent competitions to win wood burning stoves from Contura, that do say worth up to £1,895, so it could have been from another competition or a typo/mistake. Mag Dailies usually have winners lists on their sites.

E: 05/12 (MD) Win a Contura stove to keep you cosy this winter
E: 01/01 (MD) Get cosy with a Contura wood burning stove

    Conclusion:

I would see if I can see my name on a winners list, if not then I'd check how long I have to claim then contact them with a known official contact (not from the email sent to me) if I was unsure and didn't feel comfortable. It is better to be over cautious. I wouldn't question the prize value until I found this information out.

Congratulations if you have won, which it does sound like you have but the way the prize has been awarded does sound a little odd.

Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.

Update - The stove finally arrived yesterday..... but guess what, yes it's broken :( so now having to chase them again to replace the broken part, after all this time, very frustrating
