Flooring in ensuite

Our ensuite is in need to a full refurbishment but we can't afford that project yet. So we are sprucing it up with fresh paint and flooring to do us a few more years.
The ensuite (and main bathroom) are over the integral garage. So are very cold. At the moment some really cheap plastic flooring is down. I thought vinyl maybe be warmer. And not expensive. Obviously this is a temporary thing so not wanting to spend loads (underfloor heating will wait till the refurb for example).
We've already replaced all the loft insulation and added to it so it's at the now recommended height which has already made a difference to the air temperature.
Any ideas welcome to explore. It's a floor space of 1400x2000

If you want it warmer then insulating the ceiling of the garage is essential. You'll lose so much heat from that otherwise.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Indeed, and what can you put down to insulate under the new flooring?Honest this is true, in my old house with an East facing bathroom I used newspaper under the vinyl. It made a reall difference. And check for any gaps. spaces around pipework, inside and out, and under the shower tray if possible. It's surprising how a little gap can bring in a freezing draught during the day.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

They need to get in the garage and insulate from the underside, but you're absolutely right. We have considered that. There's the boxing of the waste pipe from the bathrooms to contend with. The hight of the boiler (also in the garage) plus the light fitting. But we are looking at ways to improve the garage it's an old up and over door. Gaps all the way round. But we thought of getting thermal curtains to cover that end. The thought process is in the early stages of that one. But thanks, we are also looking at what can be done about the garage xDoozergirl said:

I’m a fan of rubber flooring. Looks similar to vinyl but is warmer. We used Nora in our last house and loved it for not feeling cold underfoot.0
