On line meter readings

I'm with SSE for gas, and Eon next for electric. I have two smart meters and two IHDs. They're set to do readings every half hour.
On the SSE app, or when I log on to eon account, I cannot see any meter readings. Am I missing something?
The only readings are on the online bills.
For the gas, I can see usage , for each day, and even hourly. In money. Those figures tie in with our usage. So, I'd take from that , that the smart meter is actually working. But I would have thought that you'd be able to see the meter reading. The bills, even the latest one, have an estimated reading.

Generally the meter readings are not shown online, only the usage.Octopus does the same. The daily register snapshot comes from the different database on the meter and tends to be stored separately by the suppliers and seem not to be considered by them to be as useful to the customers as the usage data.It is easy enough to check the current meter reading on most IHDs though so you only have to adjust for the use so far that day to get back to a midnight meter reading if you find it useful.1

Yes, I can see the readings at home, either on the meter or the IHD. My concern is more about, can the suppliers see the readings. If, when I went online, I could see the readings there, then I'd be more likely to believe that they can.MWT said:Generally the meter readings are not shown online, only the usage.Octopus does the same. The daily register snapshot comes from the different database on the meter and tends to be stored separately by the suppliers and seem not to be considered by them to be as useful to the customers as the usage data.It is easy enough to check the current meter reading on most IHDs though so you only have to adjust for the use so far that day to get back to a midnight meter reading if you find it useful.
It doesn't inspire much confidence, when the bills still show estimated readings.
Both accounts are in credit. About £600 between them.0 -
Is the "estimated" reading anything like the actual reading shown on your IHD ? If it is I'd just ignore it being reported as estimated as it's still closely following your actual usage.Meter readings aren't very useful to most people who only care about how much energy they've used per day.0

Are the estimated readings close to your actual readings? You may be £600 in credit if they are using estimated readings, but if your actual usage is higher, then bad news may be just around the corner.
For some reason EDF stopped getting actual readings from our smart electricity meter back in November. But I was able to enter the actual usage on their website each month which ensured no surprised in our billing.0
