AirBnB long term rental

Long story short is husuband and I are selling our house in England and movie to Glasgow. Due to the Scottish system we plan to rent an AirBnB for a few months whilst we look and complete on a house in Glasgow. The prices are pretty crazy with average of £2000 a month for a 1 bed. Also issue is we have 2 burmese house cats and most places say no pets.

I was going to message a couple of the Owners and see if they would accept the cats if we paid a deposit. Also to say if we could have a better discount if we paid for 3 months in advance and would not expect any refund if we moved out in 2 etc, due to quick completition. Just wondering if anyone else had tried this or if any owners have suggestions of best way to approach this. We had thought of renting but who would want us for such a short time and we don't feel comfortable lying to landlords. We would be staying from 1st of August.

Would you consider a short term house share.

When I looked in Glasgow for short term it was fragmented a lot is aimed at student so no good for transients.

I put a wanted on spareroom and got some takers from owners with rooms, they were too far out for me no car some were pet friendly.

There is a 1bed flat  on there that says short term ok  pets ok Partick/west end, £875
    Good location.

I ended up with an extension on an Airbnb  deal at a good rate very central did 12 weeks.

  • Regardless of paperwork, when you would be living in the AirBnB it would be your prime home so would it actually be a Scottish PRT tenancy - not most of what the AirBnB paperwork said..

Not sure what system you mean by """ Due to the Scottish system we plan to rent an AirBnB for a few months   """"

"The Scottish system" for private rentals is now a PRT tenancy for which the landlord has no option for something like the English S21 notice, (ie stay as long as you like), but the tenant can give 28 days at any time - eg the day you move in you could give 28 days notice to leave: IMHO a much better deal than any AirBnB ****** **

Recommendation from someone with the misfortune to be English but having lived in & own property in Scotland, learn Gaelic.

I assume he means the Scottish property purchase system (and him not simply tying his purchase into an English chain like he possibly would otherwise), resulting in the need for a short term rental.

    Ah, understood, silly me.

"Royal"dad, no need for AirBnB, just go with an ordinary Scottish PRT, it gives you the flexibility you want.  Good luck!
