Parking Ticket in Supermarket Carpark when using Blue Badge

Options
I have recently got a parking ticket in a supermarket carpark. There was a 2 hour limit and I had a  blue badge on the dash board that allows 3 hours (I was taking my disabled friend shopping) I was in there for 2 hours 10 minutes. I have used this carpark for many years, unfortunately they have installed CCTV cameras in the last few weeks without me knowing. If I pay the fine within 14 days its £50.00, after the 14 days it goes upto £95.00. If I appeal the ticket and am unsuccessful will I still have the option to pay the £50.00 charge. I have spoken to the supermarket about this issue and was told the carpark is nothing to do with them. Its controlled by Britannia Parking.

That is the problem with ANPR cameras, They cannot distinguish between blue badge holders and those without.  I would have a go at the supermarket again, they must have requested or caused Britannia to be present, they didn't just rock up and set out their parking stall.

Why do you think you get 3 hours in a private car park?

That's a good point you raise there, @Umkomaas.

I had rather rashly assumed that the car park terms included words that allowed three hours with a blue badge, but that isn't what @sarahj1990 wrote.

Still worth having a go at the supermarket, in my opinion on the basis that someone with a disability as proven by the Blue Badge, should be afforded more time under the Equality Act.

Who is the parking company - there are instructions in the CoP of BPA and IPC to the effect that where there is a change in the terms and conditions that materially affects the motorist then they must make these terms and conditions clear on their signage.

You aren't going to be paying anything so please stop looking at the money.

Do tell us when the retailer cancels it.
