HMRC R40 claim

I just received a letter from HMRC telling me that they can't process my R40 claim for a rebate on taxes paid on savings in 2016/17, because the deadline was april 2020.  Which is fine, except I never applied for a rebate. I just rang them and they said a company made the claim on my behalf.  It was a bad line and I couldnt catch everything he said but I think the company name was Brooksdale... I have never heard of this company and have never authorised them to make any claims to HMRC on my behalf. I gather they seem connected in some way with a PPI company called We Fight Any Claim, but I have never used them either.  I informed HMRC that as far as I can see, the claim is fraudulent and not authorised by me in any way.
Not sure what, if anything to do next.  I have asked HMRC to send me copies of the claim, which they agreed to do. Should I be worried about this?
