As I past six months hell period( divorce, alchocol, gambling etc) I got about 25,000 in debt now. My home is repossessed. I went for holiday to clear my head and now I got scaried as people told me I may be in trouble. They will arrest me on the airport and put in prison. Is that true.?? I am really scared to come back to my parents home. Mind you I did not pay or been in contact with debt people since August. Thanks for any reply..

You can't be put in prison for any personal debt other than Council Tax and that would be a real last resort.
You have nothing to be scared of. If you think about it, why would there be someone waiting at the airport for you? That would mean anyone with any debt could never leave the country because they would be carted off on their return from their annual holiday - the prisons would be packed to the rafters as virtually everyone has debt of some kind!
Come home and see your family.

You definitely wont get arrested at the airport, or put in prison. Ignore people who tell you such silly things, and have a (((hug))) from me, as you are obviously in a bit of a panic."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

My ex husband just text me saying there is one in my name. Is it possible for me to check it out and see if he is telling true or just being a !!!!!. Thank you so much.0

I think your ex husband may be telling porkies. Was it an acrimoniuos divorce? What is he doing opening your mail as well? I am sure there will be some of the experts on here soon to put your mind at rest. It's quiet to day but it will pick up tomorrow.
Why don't you post up your SOA, details on how to here

We can then have a look and see how we can sort you out and get you paying your creditors so you can become debt free.
Try not to panic to much (((hugs)))BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
The only arrest warrant would be for a large amount of Council Tax which is an old debt and was in your name and no other names. It would also only be if you have made loads of arrangements over the years with the council and never paid on any of them. Do you have a debt which fits this description? If so, call the local council where you lived to talk to them but I think it highly unlikely from what you have said.
You cannot be arrested for any other debts such as loans, overdraft, credit cards or store cards and I also think he is telling you porkies.

I really wouldn't worry.
If you think it through, why would the authorities of whichever country you are in inform the UK authorities just on the offchance that you might have some outstanding debt?
What other details do you know?

I tried to find out if there was somewhere you could discover if there was an arrest warrant for you, but the only advice I could find was to ask a policeman who could check for you (but of course if there was a warrant that might be a bit of an issue!)
But being in debt isn't a crime, so if the only issue is debts run up in the past six months, then it seems very unlikely that this arrest warrant really exists. If you have problems, the best thing is to come home and face up to them, and get some advice from the debt advice charities. It might be a bit painful, but there are things you can do to start sorting your life out.0 -
I was in real panic. It was friendly divorce or at least I though, he was drinking , gambling and opther stuff as well. I got myself in debt with spending but also he used my credit cards as well. I took a loan and went on holiday as I was so tired. In meantime he managed to put as in woese debt on spending and God knows on what and making his flat nice. He told me the police is after me, and that he may teld them where I am. I will contact debters as I can not lead run away life but I just need to sort myself out first. So no arrest possible. Debt started in January this year and fro August I did not pay anything towards it.0

The only arrest warrant I know of for personal debt is for if you have a judgement against you in a county court claim and the claimant has attempted to get an Order to Attend Court for Questioning against you. If you fail to attend court for questioning then the bailiffs can come and arrest you and unless you answer the questions then you go to prison for seven days."The path of my life is strewn with cowpats from the Devil's own satanic herd!"
