Corroding render stop?

At the very bottom edge of my wall the render has broken away and revealed a corroded metal lip which you can simply break off with your fingers.
Does this need to be urgently looked at? I assume it's fixed behind the existing render somehow?

They are usually fixed to the wall behind the render. Stainless steel or plastic are better than galvanised.1

guys used cheaper steel ones instead of stainless steel. Not a major issue but they will continue to deteriorate and leave rusty marks. Often harder to replace and match render than its worth.1
