Problems at end of chain

Any advice would be great.
Long process in getting so far. 8 months ins and finally have most of the chain in place. Should move this Friday. Just heard this a no now.
We just keep hearing that person at end of the chain has ‘enquiries still to resolve/ answer’. No details no timeline.

My mortgage is over the is weekend. One extension already granted so no chance of another.
My buyers are threatening to pull out without some clearer update.
My solicitor can only offer me this vague phrase.
What can I do? have chased my solicitor and state agents again.
I also need to revise my offer due to increase in new mortgage offer.
