Where can I find proof of UC award online?

I can't find this on my online account, I never got a letter, I need it for prescriptions etc...

"You can use your latest Universal Credit award notice as proof, this can be either the letter or on your online account."

I hope I don't have to show it to the pharmacist from a phone, because I don't have a phone, what do I do?

Every month there is a statement posted within your online account that sets out how much you will be paid and how it has been calculated. That's what you need.

I don't know whether the pharmacist will ask to see it or not, I think you will just need to tick the box saying that you qualify.

Note that getting UC does not automatically qualify you for free prescriptions - it depends on how much earnings you have shown on the statement. As UC is calculated monthly this means that if you have earnings that fluctuate you may qualify some months but not others.

  • I already worked out I'm entitled to free prescriptions! I'm just worrying about the proof, I don't have a printer either?

As per my previous post I don't know if pharmacist will ask to see it. I think they will rely on you self certifying by ticking the relevant box on the prescription. The NHS Business authority check claims for free prescriptions against DWP records and if you are later found to have claimed when you were not entitled then you will be required to pay the charge (and be fined).

If you have a digital camera of some kind you could take a photo of your statement on the computer screen and take the camera with you just in case.

You could have asked the question on your other thread, rather than start another. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6336771/clarification-on-take-home-pay-whilst-on-uc#latest

You likely won't need to show proof... regarding free NHS anything or NHS dental or opticians anything I think I've only once been asked to supply evidence of income related benefits to qualify.

Your monthly statements in your payments section of account can be printed or turned into pdf (by printing to file; can then be emailed etc)... you might need to expand the section on other things you might be entitled to as it covers things like free NHS details.

If none of the above is suitable and you need proof to supply to anyone who asks... request them to print and send your latest statement from your U/C journal and if my experience is anything to go by they were happy to oblige.

  • Your payments pdf can be downloaded to your phone. The level of it will give the pharmacist a good idea of whether you would get free prescriptions. Although most don't check.

OP already said that they don't have a phone.
  • I/my parents on my behalf have never been asked for proof, by the pharmacist or dentist (nor the optician in years past, when I was on JSA; I haven't seen them since being on UC though).

Most places don't ask for proof, however if you are not entitled, expect a fine at some point in the future.
The onus is on you to make the correct declaration on the prescription.
For UC it is only based on your last statement and could change each assessment period, depending on any earnings.
