With you @Ginmonster on the brioche buns! Really can't understand why restaurants are using them now rather than burger buns. Sweet buns don't belong with dinner.

Completely agree re the brioche, far too sweet.
£7.42 spend in Mr M tonight:
Non-Dairy Ice Cream 85p (reduced to clear, absolute bargain)
2x tofu block £2.10 each
800g bananas 63p
Mushrooms 99p
Bread YS 75p
Brings my monthly total to £90.17/£123. Not sure if I'm going to make it but I'm certainly going to try. I might have to switch to Mr S for tofu as it's actually cheaper in there at the moment, plus they have their own brand.5 -

I actually don't mind brioche buns, wouldn't have bought them in the past but always have them leftover from my olio collections and actually quite like them now!
Well I'm almost embarrassed having to come in with another spend despite vowing to stay away, I just can't seem to help myself! Youngest wanted to bake this morning and needed a couple of things for that, also needed to replace the bottle of wine we drank last night which was meant for the weekend and ended up buying two
Was very chuffed though to see they had reduced their XXL pork loin joints down to £2 each and couldn't resist so bought two which I'll portion up and put in the freezer. The two joints are almost 4.5kg in total so will do us a lot of meals. Bought some yeast and their cheap chocolate I use for baking to put away in my stores too and used a voucher for a free bakery item to get a baguette which will be used at lunch.
Total spends £22.61 taking my running total to £150.03/£4606 -
My budget just went out of the window for the month. My fridge freezer lost its chill and started leaking compressor oil over the floor. I managed to salvage as much as I could to the mini freezer, but I can't get a replacement delivered until Monday and I can't cook and eat everything left before it goes off. Replacement freezer ordered and food waste being calculated.
Really could have done without the extra cost right now. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I'm with you on brioche buns for anything savoury 🤮. They belong in trifle or bread and butter pudding... just sayingSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Edited to add, I couldn't agree more on the brioche bun. Blurgh
I also don't get sourdough. Just seems dry and chewy to me. Give me a white sliced loaf any day of the week and soft white baps.Debt Jan 2017 = £42kMay 2022 = £15k4
