False loan agreement claim from a liquidator

I have just received a letter from a liquidator saying I owe money (£10,000) in relation to a loan agreement I took out in Sept 2018 with a company that was owned by my sisters, now ex, vindictive boyfriend, who has a reputation for underhand financial activities. If you are sure you didn't take put the loan, then yes go to the police and log it as a crime.
They may not do anything or direct you elsewhere but if you get a reference number give it to the liquidators as they are more likely to take action.
