How Do You Select/Highlight A Line Of Text In A Quote When Posting In A Thread?

The final object is to copy or make bold, a portion of a "quoted previous post", when responding to a thread?

Hope this makes sense.

    Hi @binao

You should be able to do the following:
    1. Press the 'Quote' button below the post you wish to quote.
    2. In the reply box, select the passage you wish to make bold.
    3. Press the 'B' button in the formatting toolbar.
    4. Add your commentary below the quote.
    5. Press 'Post Comment'

    Does that help at all?

Thanks for that detailed response @MSE_James. Very informative.

Now that the OP's query has been addressed, can I digress slightly and suggest that a 'U' be added to that formatting toolbar so that it is equally simple for everyone to be able to underline text?

At the moment the only way I know to underline text is to highlight the text to be underlined and then hit Ctrl+U, but that doesn't appear to be published anywhere.

@KeithP  When \I did a Pitman Desk Top Publishing course many years ago I was told that underlining  really is old  hat- it goes back to the typewriter days when there were few ways of emphasising text. Today we can change font type and size, colour of text and background. Our keyboards really haven't changed.

That's an interesting point of view @Robin9

I am left wondering (but not unduly concerned) how I might achieve any of these four things on this forum...

    @MSE_James

Thank you. Sorry  I have been unable to respond until today.

I remember text selection when we had mouse pads with all the codes.

When  I try and select text from a quote I get a small movable box that magnifys  the underlying text. Maybe this could be due to a menu setting that I have inadvertently changed. OS is Android.

Unfortunately, "staying over" prevents me checking "quote text" selection on my Omen home comp.

    Thanks to all responders.
