Switched to EDF standard variable rate - tarriff seems too high
Hi all,
Hope you won't mind helping me with a quick sanity check:
Just switched my gas supply to EDF, with standard variable rate tarrif (SVR).
Welcome pack said my SVR tarrif would be 4.187p per Kwh.
But my new online account is saying that my SVR tarrif is 7.517p per Kwh.
I thought the energy cap will not be increasing until April, and that I'm supposed to be given advanced notice of any change to the SVR.
Is there something I'm misunderstanding?
Thanks.

You will be charged the lower tariff until end of March. Unfortunately EDF in their wisdom have decided to show the April 1 onward tariff on people's My Tariff page without putting an effective date on it. Very misleading and very poor. I"ve already complained to them on chat about this as have a number of others on the other EDF related threads. (I believe they replied to one person to say that 'it was to help you compare with any fixed deals'...which would have been fine if they'd put both the current tariff and the new one up there stating its effective date. Very helpful....not)1
