dual band USB wifi adapter.
I'm going to be moving my desktop away from the room my router is in and using a wifi USB adapter .
I already have one on a second computer but I only get about 30 mbs using it on the 5 gHz band,
Any suggestions for a dual band USB adapter with a long range?

The 2.4 Ghz band has much better penetration through solid surfaces than 5 Ghz, so unless the router and computer are in line of sight you will be better off with that band.1

It is all about big aerials.david1946 said:I have Virgin Media broadband with a Hub3 router/modem and get over 100 mbs speed

Both on your router and the client PC using the wifi.
Wifi is just radio signals, the bigger and better the aerials, the better the wifi speeds.

It's easy to switch the VM router into "modem only" mode then plug a decent WiFi router into it. I bought an Asus router and now get good 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wifi all over the house and garden, particularly in areas that struggled to connect before.Did also put a decent dual band adapter in my main PC (in the opposite corner of the house) with external antennae and it connects at 5GHz and gives me the full 200Mbps download speed I pay for.Sorry, can't recommend a USB adapter though, as I don't use them.

What decent dual band adapter did you get for your main PC? I am in the market for one too.victor2 said:debitcardmayhem said:I would suggest a better router than the virgin supplied one. An Asus PCE-AC68. Uses a PCI-E slot of course, but works a treat.womble12345 said:
