Warning: Check your closing Utility Point and opening EDF bill closely - discrepancies!

I finally got my opening reading show up on my EDF account. I went to check what it was on the closing bill for Utility point which was issued weeks ago and the Utility Point website is now closed. Great!
Thankfully, I found a downloaded bill on my computer and the closing balance on the Utility Point account does not match the EDF balance.
So I go to the EDF chat to resolve this and (after around a 30 minute wait) get the the point that I am told that this is "within tolerance" but they can put some credit on my account to cover the double charging of the units.
Now I say, I'm ok with that (although this is really off that this should even happen).
They calculate the value to be ...£0.36!! Now on my calculations of what I will get charged on my next bill based on the rate it states on my EDF account, I make the balance £20. Honestly....
Now I know the calculation is not straightfoward to convert gas units to kwh, which then need to be multiplied by the tarriff and VAT added to get to the right balance, and you actually need to know the calorific value that will be used on your bill, but at a high level (in case this helps someone), the calculation I have done is to work out that (a) (approximately) the number of units in dispute is equivalent to 10% of the units that I used in the Utility Point bill and (b) the Utility Point bill converts units to kwh, so 10% of that number of kwh is what I consider to be (approximately) the kwh in dispute and (c) you multiply that kwh by the tarriff showing under my tarriff on the account.
I am in discussions to resolve this (taken over an hour so far, a complete joke), but I am wondering how many people out there are being cheated out of an amount when I know many are struggling. So please take this as a warning and check this so you don't lose out!!

I should add that the second attempt got to £4.05, still somewhat out!
/update/ and now the chat has been cut off...
It really shouldn't be this hard.0 -
I feel EDF complaints dept is going to be busy in the coming months. They seem to be making a complete pigs ear of all their SoLR take ons.

I would make a formal complaint with EDF.
it make take some time to sort but you do have recourse to the ombudsman.
make sure you go through the formal complaints procedure so it is recognised as such.1 -
The 'within tolerance' statement has nothing to do with the closing and opening reads being the same. They should and must always be the same so they are talking rubbish. A complaint should see it corrected.1

The thing how many people who are financially in a less secure position are being affected this and have no idea that the energy companies are taking an extra£10, £20, £30 etc off them. That's what worries me!!
