You could insist that the buyer forego the survey.  But if I was that buyer I would be wondering what you are hiding.
What a waste of time! "wondering what you are hiding".
I'd just walk away and find somewhere else to spend my £00,000s where I could verify it was being spent wisely.

    • In tandem, after months of looking I've found a property that ticks all my boxes and is on the exact road im looking for. I'm viewing it next weekend, and I'm almost certain that I will make an offer on it
Due to the above, I've been left feeling very stressed and angry. I feel that the Buyer should have said at the initial offer stage that he wanted to do a structural survey. Given the situation and how long the structural survey will take, what's the best course of action? I'm a first time seller, and I feel really lost. I feel like making me wait another month is very unreasonable.

Where's the rush? You're not even viewing the property until next weekend (why aren't you viewing today, it could be gone by next weekend?). The vendor, even if they accept your offer, is presumably also going to need to find somewhere to buy. Even if not, they aren't going to be expecting to receive your funds within days of the offer going in.

Most buyers won't start any work on the purchase at all until there is a complete chain. You haven't even offered on a property yet so the survey is happening earlier than it usually would.
Your buyers survey isn't causing any delays at all, you are the one causing the delay by not having found your onward purchase yet.

    God be with the buyer!

Why on earth do you expect the buyer to listen to you without question? I think you need to re-evaluate and accept your position in the process.

If one buyer wants to do the structure survey, another will. Not sure what planet you are on.
  • Chances are the next buyer will just do the same?
