How to get Multiple Quotes for Kitchen Design

Hi. I’m looking for some advice please on the best approach to get multiple quotes for a kitchen design, as a first timer at this.

I have a local Howden’s depot very close by. I understand you need to have a trade account with them. I do have a friend in trade I can ask to use his account.

I would like to though get some extra quotes elsewhere for financial purpose just in case.

However, what is the process for doing that? Do you get a bill of items or key measurements of the design? Or perhaps Do you only have the 3D design to work with if going to price elsewhere at places like DIY Kitchens or Benchmarx online?

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

Back in 2000 I made a drawing which included all measurements and features and took it into MFI and asked them for ideas.

They came up with a design that we liked and features we had not thought of - the dishwasher sold it to my wife so much so that years later when it broke I was threatened with violence if it was not replaced promptly.

We took the plans round several companies and asked for quotes and any ideas. All went with the same plan and gave quotes. Finished up back at MFI but got my own fitter.

All these firms off free design/quotations so try what I did.

My mum redid her kitchen a couple of years ago. She just went to three different kitchen companies and asked them to design and quote. She liked seeing different designers’ ideas and had changes made to the final design based on some of the other ideas.

She bounced back and forth between two, haggling them down. Eventually got it for a bit over half the initial price. Though it was from Wren who were an absolute nightmare during the fit, so not recommended.  :D
  • Take some measurements of your kitchen, including position and size of doors and windows. Make up a drawing of the outline of the room. Make appointments with some kitchen places for design/quote and go from there.

I found they all came up with similar designs for us which is probably peculiar to our kitchen and my wife’s requirements. Cost varied from £10k to £25k for the same kitchen design and appliances.
