Hermes: multiple 'lost' parcels and parcels posted as delivered that weren't

I have just had a second parcel that I sent with Hermes that has been 'lost' in transit. I assume that this means that persons in the Hermes network have stolen it. Not only do I suffer the embarrassment of explaining this to my sendee, but also suffer financial loss because I hadn't insured the contents to the full amount. Why should I, as a consumer, be forced to pay extra insurance because Hermes are hiring untrustworthy staff and do not have proper controls in place?
On the flip side, I have had a couple of occasions where Hermes has marked a parcel as delivered to me where no-one had even approached my door (thanks to my Ring doorbell). I then had to escalate to be recompensed. Again, why is this my issues not Hermes'?
It would be good if Martin Lewis could do an expose of Hermes on TV.

Why should Hermes pay out if you lied about the value of the contents when you purchased their services?
Higher value items cost more to send no matter which service you use.
Martin Lewis does not read these forums and this site has nothing to do with the ITV show.0 -

2. why not? Let me guess...price?
It seems to me that you're selecting a courier solely on price, despite prior bad experiences, not insuring the service in order to save yourself money, then complaining that you're not getting good service. Choose a different service. Bad couriers will continue to operate as long as people choose a service on price alone.2 -

It seems TV coverage isn't the answer.0 -
Interesting you seem to have multiple issues with a carrier you then decide to use to send items with?
Doubling down with under insuring.0 -

Well as Sybil Fawlty said to Basil: "of course they're cheap - that's because they're no b**** good"0

Shocker in cheap courier is useless, double shocker in under insuring things means you’re not paid out the full value.0

This is really unfair. You are making assumptions. I know a few people who work for Hermes and they all work really hard for a pittance - but that does not mean that they steal anything. (They don't)
There may be thieves who work there but you cannot just accuse everyone.
Hermes has a tracking system so you should be able to track your parcel at every stage and if their system doesn't work for you then you should complain and move your business elsewhere.
There are thieves working everywhere sadly, but accusing workers of stealing, when you have no proof, can ensure that Hermes sues you, when they find out.
Before making accusations, you should take note of the Forum Rules, especially this -
