Last year I used Tyres on the Drive.

It was a bit of a saga, as detailed here, but it all worked out ok in the end.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

I appreciate everyone who have been so helpful.  Good fortune with Merlin living so close, small world, and having used local Halfords.  It was what I'd hoped to hear.

Used BlackCircles before, turned up at fitting partner garage at agreed date and time only to be told that tyres had not arrived as BlackCircles were out of stock. No communication from BlackCircles and I still had to contact them myself for a refund. Waste of time and journey.

Thats really bad.  I've had tyres delayed via blackcircles but they did keep me informed.

There was another time a few years ago where I used ASDA Tyres and I turned up at the fitting garage at the date & time booked. Only to be told by the garage that they had never heard of ASDA Tyres, and that they hadn't signed up to their service to their knowledge, and the first time they knew about them was when the courier delivered the tyres to them for my fitting. They did fit them for me but I did notice that the garage was taken off the garage list on ASDA Tyres a few weeks later. All very weird.

I used Halfords recently for my Dad's car, they were definitely the cheapest for a full set of Goodyear all seasons plus they also had a discount code which brought the price down further. The only issue was the service in this particular Halfords was terrible. I had a slot booked in but when I dropped the car off they said they were very busy and I had to wait, eventually they did but it was 3 hours later which is a right PITA when you're stuck hanging around a business park in the middle of nowhere.
  • I used Kwik Fit home tyre service during lockdown at the end of 2020 - They had the tyres I wanted at a good price, and home fitting was about £15. Arrived on time, quick job (no pun intended), all good. Would use them again.

Look online and see who does the tyres you want for the best price, then see who can fit them.

Used them once, never again. Van and fitter turned up on time. He looked as though he had just left school. Fitted a new tyre to a brand new alloy wheel. That wheel was seriously gouged and scraped from the fitting process.
Contacted T on the D (Warrington) and provided pictures. To their credit they asked me to buy another new wheel and send a receipt copy. They refunded that and sent someone more experienced to swap the tyre to the newer new wheel.

I probably would use Tyres on the Drive again. Yes, they screwed up my job by twice bringing the wrong tyres (although in the end I got run flats for the price of much cheaper non run flats) and they damaged your alloy wheel but I think those incidents are exceptions and they usually get things right.

The fact that they readily agreed to provide you with a new alloy wheel demonstrates that they at least take full responsibility for any errors.

What did you do with the damaged alloy wheel? You could probably easily sell if you don't want to keep it as a spare.
